Description

We have developed a course that will explain all the elements of crochet. You'll get a great complete guide to terminology, tools, yarn weights and types, how to hold your hands, reading patterns, making swatches to check your tension/gauge and of course creating all the basic crochet stitches.

Crochet is a language of its own, but a language that also differs from the UK to the US. In an eternal battle between metric and imperial, singles vs doubles (and we don't mean tennis), letters vs sizes, weight vs ply... it is enough to leave you curled in the corner of the yarn department rocking back and forth. But we are here to demystify this crazy confusion and leave you with an addiction to crochet!

Over the three weekly workshops, you will also receive extensive class notes that will provide you with a reference tool you can come back to time and time again.

What you'll be making:

  • Workshop 1: While de-mystifying the language of crochet, you'll make a chain stitch necklace/scarf
  • Workshop 2: A fruity pot holder, show off your new skills in the kitchen!
  • Workshop 3: A tri-coloured scarf

Thank you Amy for being such a patient and professional trainer. It is so nice to be taught by highly skilled people who love to share their knowledge to others. Amy not only delivered the basics of crotchet, she spoke and demonstrated other tips and techniques to guide us to successful outcomes. This 3 day crotchet for beginners was everything I hoped for, and beyond. My expectations were, well and truely, exceeded. Thank you so much and looking forward to more classes thread den are offering. For now, I will practice my new skills. Thank you all so much.

I was originally very nervous about running online workshops due to lockdown restrictions. It was a long-term plan to have an online offering… but being rushed into it made me very anxious. The Thread Den teachers all contributed to the model developed for our online workshops and their commitment and input into the process was incredible. We wanted to use the opportunities presented by this time to create a supportive and nurturing workshop delivery mode that makes each student feel like the focus of our attention. The wonderful feedback received has uplifted us all so much! Online workshops will continue to be part of Thread Den’s workshop schedule and we are also going to incorporate some of the great teaching tools and methods that we’ve use online when we teach off line. Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback.

Highly recommend Thread Den classes! I’ve done a few now over the years & always enjoy myself & learn so much! I did my first crochet class in person but then back to lockdown! Boo!! I did the remaining two classes via Zoom. Even though it was a new thing for Thread Den, Amy and Danielle did an awesome job of adapting the class for Zoom. I’ve never used Zoom & am not very tech savvy but found it pretty easy to use. It really was just like being taught in person & lots of fun!! I now have a new hobby!!
