Description

A versatile relaxed fit sweater by Papercut Patterns with neck binding or hoodie. It has raglan style long wide sleeves and hem cuffs. A great basic for any wardrobe, good for layering or on its own.

Notes on supplies: Medium weight jersey fabrics are perfect.  It is essential you choose a two-way stretch (your fabric needs to stretch vertically and horizontally). Also your sweater will retain its shape if there is 5-10% of lycra/nylon/elstain/etc in the fabric. Ensure For directional prints, large prints and fabrics with nap you purchase extra fabric. For best results - pre-wash your fabric to reduce shrinkage.

Parking Info
  • We are located at Level 1, 329 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy.  It's a red door on the street between an Afghan restaurant and the N2 Gelato Bar.  If you are putting this into your GPS for directions - make sure that the address is NOT coming up as North Fitzroy. That's a couple of kilometres down the road. Totally not where you need to go.
  • Parking near Thread Den: There is very little free parking. Brunswick Street is all ticketed and restricted to as little as 2hours during some hours of the day.  Surrounding streets can also be difficult.  However, you can park for longer in the paid Coles Car Park.  When you look it up online it is listed as Johnston Street, however access is via Argyle Street.  If you park on level 1 or 2 and spend over $30 at Coles, you can get your parking for up to 4 hours reimbursed in Coles.
  • Catch the tram. Public Transport is the ideal way to get to Thread Den - jump on the number 11 Tram and get off near the Johnston Street intersection.

What to bring
  • Matching polyester sewing machine thread (Gutermaan is excellent)
  • 1.6m of medium weight knit - cotton knit sweatshirting, cotton/lycra, viscose/lycra, wool jersey, or merino wool knit.
  • Optional - .4 metres of contrasting knit fabric for neckband, waistband and cuffs similar to your main fabric OR .5metres for the optional hoodie in contrast fabric

Cancellation & Refund Policy

On occasion, Thread Den is forced to cancel a class due to low booking numbers. We really don't like to do this as we love to teach people to sew, knit and crochet, but if we don't cover our costs we can't run the class. In instances where Thread Den must cancel a class, enrolled participants will be notified 24 hours or more prior to the scheduled class and will receive a credit for a replacement class or a refund as required.

There are no refunds due to change of mind.

06 May 2018 • Sew the Undercover Sweater ✄✄

This was a fantastic class! Danielle is a great teacher - very clear, informative, and patient - and was kind enough to stay longer than the scheduled class time so that I could completely finish my jumper before leaving. The pattern is really nice and everyone's been impressed with what I've made. I can't wait to sign up for another Thread Den class; I'm addicted!

It was a really fun class. I had used an overlocker only a few times prior to class, but I had no problem in the class. Dan made it easy! She is a great teacher. I was really happy with my finished piece :)
