Description

Learn how to take a garment that you love and create a pattern from it.

The first half of the course is learning how to draft a pattern from your favourite garment.  In the second half you will make a toile of that garment to check the pattern drafting.

You could be making many versions of your favourite wardrobe item in all different colours!  You'll have your pattern for ever.

You can expect to finish 1 pattern and 1 toile (mock-up) in the course timeframe.

Be easy on yourself and choose something simple for your first project. Not too many seams or details in the construction. Nothing made from knits fabric (we run this course separately for knits).

Cancellation & Refund Policy

On occasion, Thread Den is forced to cancel a class due to low booking numbers. We really don't like to do this as we love to teach people to sew, knit and crochet, but if we don't cover our costs we can't run the class. In instances where Thread Den must cancel a class, enrolled participants will be notified 24 hours or more prior to the scheduled class and will receive a credit for a replacement class or a refund as required.

There are no refunds due to change of mind.

Amy MacDonald is a lovely teacher, calm, patient and highly skilled. There were only 3 of us in the class so we got lots of attention. 2 of us were beginner sewers so we needed it! We learnt to draft a pattern by drawing around a favourite garment, which is not as obvious as it sounds, and then sew it up in a toile out of cheap fabric. The class is spread over two Sundays all day so we weren't rushed. Even working hard, I only managed to half-finish the toile, but enough to make a pretty good imitation of the original. I am very pleased with it and can't wait to make it up in beautiful fabric. I highly recommend taking classes with Amy. You will certainly learn a lot in this class.
